CAMDEN COUNTY, MO. — Four women are under arrest for prostitution in Camden County. But, this was no ordinary sting operation. Three of the women were pregnant.

In light of the bombshell federal wiretap case that ensnared New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer — and referenced Miami escorts — a glimpse into South Florida’s lucrative online escort industry reveals it is thriving and operates without much enforcement.
”We don’t actively investigate escort services,” Broward Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Alesia Russell said. “We wouldn’t know unless there was a tip generated. Then we would check.”…
A check Tuesday of cityvibe.com and eros.com — sites where escorts and their companies post ads — showed 804 listings for female prostitutes in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. One site advertising male escorts listed 80 South Florida providers on Tuesday.
And that’s only three websites — all types of escorts also place not-so-discreet ads in local magazines, newspapers and elsewhere on the Internet……
”When the FBI gets interested in an escort agency, it is because of money laundering, not prostitution,” Hof said.

DETROIT COP ARRESTED AFTER CALLING CRAIGSLIST ESCORT

Evans said the enforcement took place on Thursday & Friday night after several weeks of investigation. Officers identified the women as escorts on Craig’s List on the Internet. Male undercover officers contacted them via cell phone and arranged meetings. At those meetings, and sometimes during the preliminary cell phone conversations, the UC officers successfully negotiated sexual services for money. Most would only talk “business” face-to-face, Evans said. One woman, however, actually advertised sex for money on her web page. One customer that was seeking the services of one of the escorts on Thursday night turned out to be an off-duty Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy assigned to the jail. He was cited for solicitation. In reality, he had been making the arrangements with an undercover female deputy that answered the escort’s phone after deputies arrested the escort. The off-duty officer was issued an appearance ticket for the misdemeanor ordinance violation and deputies impounded his vehicle. FLORIDA’s self-defense law covers gunning down an angry, armed pimp.
Orange County sheriff’s investigators reached that conclusion Wednesday, a day after an Orlando man killed the manager of a female escort he hired online through the Craigslist networking site.
‘From our perspective, he was clearly defending his life, and we’re not going to be making an arrest,’ sheriff’s homicide Sgt. Allen Lee said. ‘Any time we get a death like this, we do send it to the State Attorney’s Office for review.’
The deadly encounter began Tuesday afternoon on the shores of Lake Irma in east Orange County.
Two roommates, Shawn McGarity and Troy Manning, hired two women from separate Internet ads on Craigslist’s pages for erotic personal services in Orlando, according to investigators.
Unfortunately for the men, according to the Sheriff’s Office, the prostitution trade is in upheaval, split between women and men simply selling their bodies and predators who use sex to lure customers into violent rip-offs.
The first woman to arrive at the lakeside house on TCU Boulevard later told detectives that robberies of johns are making it harder for her to make a living. As the afternoon progressed, the woman who previously worked as a prostitute in San Francisco and New Orleans warned her clients that the other woman they hired might be getting ready to rob them, deputies said.
‘That’s unusual what she did. We’re trying to reach out to her,’ said Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation Cmdr. Paul Zambouros, head of the vice and organized-crime squads. ‘Granted, what she’s doing is not right, but she says she can’t get any jobs because the johns are afraid of getting ripped off.’
As of Wednesday afternoon, Craigslist had more than 100 new posts and photos from Orlando women and men offering sex for prices starting at about $150 for the first half-hour. At the same time, information about the dangers of getting robbed by Orlando’s pimps and prostitutes can be found at various Internet escort Web sites.
‘We didn’t realize it was such a problem. It was eye-opening and concerning, what we learned last night,’ Lee said of questioning the woman about the number of unreported robberies. ‘What’s a john going to do? Call home and say, ‘Honey, I just got robbed by a whore?’
The gunfire erupted shortly after 7 p.m.
Shawn Goubitz-Doss, identified by deputies as the pimp of the woman who was acting suspiciously, returned to the house and pistol-whipped McGarity, 31, almost as soon as he stepped through the door. He fired at least one shot indoors as three accomplices ran toward the house from the street, according to interviews.
Previously alerted by the other woman, McGarity had armed himself with a 9 mm Ruger pistol and shot Goubitz-Doss several times. Goubitz-Doss died later at Winter Park Hospital, according to sheriff’s reports.
‘As far as who shot first, we still don’t know,’ Lee said.
Jail and police records show Goubitz-Doss, 28, had been arrested before on charges of beating a pregnant woman, armed robbery, burglary, violation of probation and stealing a firearm.
The state’s self-defense law passed in October 2005 gives everyone the right to use deadly force to protect their homes and lives without having to retreat if they feel threatened.
Investigators are searching for Goubitz-Doss’ three accomplices, who fled before deputies reached the home. The names of the two women were not released as they are part of the continuing investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
McGarity and Manning, 35, likely will not be charged with soliciting a prostitute.
‘We’re not going to look into that,’ Lee said. ‘We’re just doing the death investigation, but we referred that to MBI.’
The county’s vice cops are interested most in having Craigslist pull the sexually explicit photographs and offers of prostitution from its Orlando classified advertising. In a Sept. 28 letter, Zambouros advised Craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster that MBI has arrested more than 100 prostitutes advertising their services on Craigslist.
Craigslist did not respond to a request from the Orlando Sentinel for comment by late Wednesday evening.

TEEN USES FATHERS CREDIT CARD TO ORDER ESCORTS

A 13 year old from Texas who stole his Dad’s credit card and ordered two hookers from an escort agency, has today been convicted of fraud and given a three year community order.
Ralph Hardy, a 13 year old from Newark, Texas confessed to ordering an extra credit card from his father’s existing credit card company, and took his friends on a $30,000 spending spree, culminating in playing “Halo” on an Xbox with a couple of hookers in a Texas motel.
The credit card company involved said it was regular practice to send extra credit cards out as long as all security questions are answered.
The escort girls who were released without charge, told the arresting officers something was up when the kids said they would rather play Xbox than get down to business.
Police said they were alerted to the motel by a concerned delivery clerk, whom after delivering supplies of Dr Pepper, Fritos and Oreos had been asked by the kids where they could score some chicks and were willing to pay. They explained they had just made a big score at a “World of Warcraft” tournament and wanted to get some relaxation. On noting the boys age the delivery clerk informed the authorities.
